BLONDIES

BLONDIES from the kitchen of Judy

Prep time: 25 min  Bake time:  25 minutes

2 cups packed brown sugar
2/3 cup butter
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 cup semisweet chocolate pieces if desired
1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)

1.      Grease a 13x9x2” baking pan and set aside
2.      In a medium saucepan heat brown sugar and butter over medium heat till sugar dissolves, stirring constantly.  Coool slightly.  Sir in eggs, one at a time, and vanilla.
3.      Stir in mixture of flour, baking powder and baking soda.
4.      Spread batter in prepared baking pan.  Sprinkle with nuts and/ or chocolate.
Bake in 350 degree oven 25-30 minutes or until done.  Cool slightly on a wire rack.  Cut into bars while warm.  Makes 36 bars (or less).
