December 30, 2012 -- Old Yellow Moon
Tonight's Dinner
Dunno why it uploaded the wrong way, but this is part of dinner: Rosemary bread with fresh tomatoes and cheese. Roasted onion English cheddar, American, and cheddar with blue cheese. Will be served with spaghetti and some sort of sauce. Not sure yet, mom doesn't like tomato sauce. Probably butter and garlic.

Old Woman Prospector
(I know a few "ladies" that are quite capable of doing this.)
She walked up and tied her old mule to the hitch rail. As she stood there, brushing some of the dust from her face and clothes, a young gunslinger stepped out of the saloon with a gun in one hand and a bottle of whiskey in the other.
The young gunslinger looked at the old woman and laughed, saying, "Hey old woman, have you ever danced?"
The old woman looked up at the gunslinger and said, "No, I never did dance... Never really wanted to."
A crowd had gathered as the gunslinger grinned and said, "Well, you old bag, you're gonna dance now," and started shooting at the old woman's feet.
The old woman prospector - not wanting to get her toe blown off -started hopping around. Everybody was laughing.
When his last bullet had been fired, the young gunslinger, still laughing, holstered his gun and turned around to go back into the saloon.
The old woman turned to her pack mule, pulled out a double-barreled shotgun, and cocked both hammers.
3 - Whiskey makes you think you're smarter than you are.
4 - Always, always make sure you know who has the power.
5 - Don't mess with old women; they didn't get old by being stupid...
An old woman
prospector shuffled into town leading a tired old mule.
The old woman
headed straight for the only saloon to clear her parched
throat.

The old woman turned to her pack mule, pulled out a double-barreled shotgun, and cocked both hammers.
The loud clicks
carried clearly through the desert air. The crowd stopped laughing
immediately. The young
gunslinger heard the sounds too, and he turned around very slowly.
The silence was
almost deafening.
The crowd watched as the young gunman stared at the old woman and the large gaping holes of those twin barrels.
The barrels of the shotgun never wavered in the old woman's hands, as she quietly said, "Son, have you ever licked a mule's butt?
The gunslinger swallowed hard and said, "No Ma'am... But, I've always wanted to."

There are a few
lessons for us all here:
1 - Never be

2 - Don't waste

Oh, really?
"We
must also prepare ourselves for the very real possibility that the
outcome of this situation might well be the total extinction of the
entire human race. It really could be worse than I am predicting, and I
really am being optimistic. First, I would like to assure you that I am
not some kind of nut anxiously waiting for the end of the world..."

Tips For A Safe Thanksgiving
Article from @920KVEC
With Thanksgiving just days away, CAL FIRE/San Luis Obispo County Fire is warning residents about the many dangers that the holiday can pose. The end of the year for most Americans means preparing for feasts, festivities and fun throughout the holiday season. But each year that joy is marred by tragedy when accidents and fires cause injuries and even death. Thanksgiving remains the leading day for home cooking fires with three times as many fires than an average day, according to statistics from the National Fire Protection Association.
To help reduce the chance of fire and injuries associated with holiday cooking, follow these tips:
Never leave cooking food unattended. Stay in the kitchen when you are frying, grilling, or broiling food.
If you leave the kitchen for even a short period time, turn off the stove.
Cooking food should always be supervised by an adult.
Turkey fryers should always be used outdoors a safe distance from buildings and other material that can burn. Never use on wooden decks or in garages.
Children should not be permitted near a turkey fryer since hot oil can cause serious burn injuries.
Provide a level surface that is free of ignitable materials when using turkey fryers.
Make sure a fire extinguisher is handy at all times. Never use water to put out a grease fire.
Use well-insulated potholders or oven mitts when touching pot or lid handles.
For more information on fire safety, visit our website at www.fire.ca.gov.
